Here's a list of top cars that ruled the Indian car segment for years, and created a huge impact on lives, but unfortunately had to say bye-bye due to strict emission norms.

As the emission norms get stricter every year, a lot of car manufacturer are either being forced to update their top product lineup or discontinue some of them. Keeping all the rules aside, there were few cars, which had received a positive response in the Indian market, but somehow failed to sustain for the long run due to vehicle emission standard

Here’s a list of top cars that ruled the Indian car segment for years, and created a huge impact on lives, but unfortunately had to say bye-bye due to strict emission norms.

Volkswagen Polo

Whenever there is talk of the most loved car in the hatchback segment, the Volkswagen Polo always comes on the top, all thanks to its compact size and power. The vehicle was introduced in the Indian market in the 1860s. Since then, it has received multiple updates over the years, and finally left the country on 7 April 2022.

The most trusted and well-built hatchback was capable of a seamless transition to BS6 norms. However, due to less sales, the company decided to put it on discontinued shelf.

Honda City 4th-Gen

The company recently introduced City’s fifth-gen in India, and removed the previous one, along with along with WR-V and Jazz without making any noise.

Now, the company is left with three models on sale, City Hybrid, Amaze and 5th-gen City, which was launched at the starting price of Rs Rs.11.49 lakh (ex-showroom).

Mahindra Marazzo

Every car enthusiast always regrets not seeing the updated or next-gen model of Mahindra’s most powerful SUV Marazzo. The car somehow did not get the proper attention from the Indian customer, and witnessed a massive drop in sales, resulting in the discontinuation of the SUV.

It was reported that the company managed to sell Marazzo’s 141 units only in February 2023. Seeing the sudden drop, the brand decided to put a full stop to its production.
