Honeywell will provide Air India with extensive APU support for its fleet of over 300 aircraft, including its legacy and new fleets.

Honeywell has sealed a major deal with Air India, the top global airline in India and a Tata Group enterprise, for long-term Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) support.

This agreement covers both Air India’s current and future fleets, promising top-notch maintenance for Honeywell’s APUs. The goal is to enhance aircraft reliability, increase fleet availability, and cut down on unexpected maintenance costs.

APUs are vital for aircraft, providing electrical power and air conditioning while on the ground. They ensure passenger comfort and supply the necessary air before the main engines start. Honeywell’s APUs are part of its broad tech range shaping the future of aviation, aligning with key global trends like Automation and Energy Transition.

Ashish Modi, President of Honeywell India, expressed enthusiasm about the extended collaboration. “This latest milestone in our 30-year-plus partnership with Air India is a testament to our key role in accelerating the growth of India’s aviation sector through innovative technology.”

As air travel expands, the need for accessible aftermarket services grows. Honeywell’s deal with Air India will provide extensive APU support for its large fleet, which includes over 300 aircraft, from legacy models like the A320 and B777 to the new B737-8s. Honeywell will service its 131-9A, 131-9B, and 331-500 series APUs, ensuring peak performance and minimal disruption.

Sisira Kanta Dash, Chief Technical Officer of Air India, called the agreement a significant step. “This agreement forms part of our global growth and transformation plans, to help achieve more efficient, reliable operations, with maximized fleet availability, through Honeywell’s advanced technology services that enable us to continue meeting the needs of our valued customers.”

With over 70 years of experience and 100,000 gas turbine APUs produced, Honeywell is a leader in auxiliary power solutions. Their reliable APUs are crucial for flight safety, operational dependability, and fuel efficiency, supported by a global network of comprehensive service solutions.
