Maruti Upgrades Alto K10 And S-Presso With New Safety Feature, Prices Unchanged

Maruti Suzuki has taken a step towards making their entry-level hatchback cars safer for customers.

In a major development, the country’s leading auto manufacturer has announced the inclusion of the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) as standard equipment on the Alto K10 and S-Presso models.

The ESP is a crucial safety element designed to improve stability and prevent loss of control on slippery road surfaces, especially during emergency breaks.

Moreover, despite the inclusion of ESP, the prices for Alto K10 and S-Presso cars remain unchanged. Additionally, these vehicles will also include standard safety features such as twin airbags, ABS, EBD and reverse parking sensors.

The Electronic Stability Program mitigates skidding by a series of monitored programs. The ESP unit combines ABS, stability control, and traction control, utilising various sensors to monitor the vehicle’s original path, improving stability.

Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India said, “The addition of Electronic Stability Program as a standard feature on Maruti Suzuki product portfolio aligns with our goal to democratized advanced features and it significantly increases the value position of our vehicles. This is a step toward ensuring that our customers enjoy greater safety through increased driving confidence regardless of the model they choose,” quoted Times Now.

The Alto K10 is one the of oldest and most loved cars. It is also among the most fuel-efficient vehicles in the Indian market. The Alto K10 is powered by a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder NA petrol engine producing 67 bhp and 89 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission or an optional 5-speed AMT. The entry-level hatch also gets an optional factory-fit CNG kit. The company claims it gives an ARAI-certified mileage of 24.39 Kmpl.

It is available in seven different colours including Metallic Sizzling Red, Metallic Silky Silver, Pearl Midnight Black, Premium Earth Gold, Solid White, Metallic Granite Grey, and Metallic Speedy Blue.

Talking about its cost, the pricing for Alto K10 begins from Rs 3.99 Lakh and goes to Rs 5.96 Lakh (ex-showroom).

The S-Presso, on the other hand, comes with the same 1.0-litre, three-cylinder NA petrol engine producing 67 bhp and 89 Nm of torque. It is available in both Automatic and Manual transmission. For the S-Presso, Maruti claims an ARAI-certified mileage of 24.12 kmpl.

While the Alto K10 currently has no direct rivals, the S-Presso faces competition with the Renault Kwid in the Indian market. The Maruti S-Presso is also available in seven different colour options i.e. Solid Fire Red, Solid Sizzle Orange, Pearl Starry Blue, Metallic Granite Grey, Metallic Silky Silver, Solid White, and Pearl Midnight Black. About the cost, the pricing for the Maruti S-Presso in India ranges from Rs 4.26 lakh to Rs 6.12 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom).
