“When we displayed the Indica in Geneva in 1998, it marked our entry into passenger cars,” says Chairman of the Tata Group, Ratan Tata said.

He adds, “The last decade has been a period of significant development in Tata Motors' capabilities. The display of the Nano, which is a first for the global automobile industry, and the new generation Indica signifies in-house progression."

The high fuel efficiency of the car results in low carbon dioxide emissions, thereby providing the twin benefits of an affordable transportation solution with a low carbon footprint.

The new generation Indica has been given a complete makeover. The new Indica will be available with a new range of world-class diesel and petrol engines and transmissions with a new suspension.

The next in line is Xenon, which will be manufactured in India and Thailand and will be marketed in Tata's existing European, Asean and African markets.
