Skoda has been working towards revamping their existing line up in India. The company recently launched the updated Octavia and Superb, and are now set to launch the new Rapid on November 3, 2016.
The Rapid will get new exterior design updates, making it look familiar to the current generation Octavia and Superb. Changes will include a much bolder and sharper front-fascia with chiselled headlights which are complimented by the neatly placed fog lamps. On the inside, the Rapid is expected to get minor changes to the dash and the infotainment system.
A 1.5-litre diesel engine is expected to be powering the new Rapid, which will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission or an optional 7-speed DSG gearbox. The petrol variant is might be continued to be powered by the same 1.6-litre petrol engine.
The biggest factor determining the success of the Rapid will probably boil down to the pricing, which the company will have to make aggressive, in order to give rivals like Honda City and Hyundai Verna a run for its money. Stay tuned for updates.
