Ganesh Chaturthi Special: Bengaluru Temple Decorated With Coins And Notes Worth Rs 2.5 Crore

The joyous festival of Ganesh Chaturthi has arrived and devotees are all geared up for the grand celebrations. Meanwhile, Sri Sathya Ganapathi Temple in Puttenahalli, JP Nagar, Bengaluru, has taken its decorations to a whole new level. The temple management has decorated the premises with Indian currency notes and coins of approximately Rs 2.56 crore. Devotees visiting the temple during this auspicious occasion will discover banknotes like Rs 500, Rs 200, Rs 100, Rs 50, Rs 20 and Rs 10, as well as coins worth Rs 70 lakh, scattered throughout the temple, creating a unique and visually stunning display.

Mohan Raju, one of the trustees, expressed his delight at the enthusiastic response to their unique decorations and told ANI, “Every year we celebrate Ganesha Chathurthi in unique way, last year also we decorated with unique and special style, this time we decorated the whole temple with bunch of Indian currency notes by making garlands and ornaments for lord Ganesha. All are original currency notes. Devotees are coming to have darshan since morning.”

The temple has implemented advanced security measures, including CCTV surveillance, to safeguard the costly decorations. Interestingly, a dedicated team of 150 skilled workers were hired for over a month to decorate the temple premise with coins and currency notes. While the decoration is quite unique, the artistic use of coins to create images of Lord Ganesha, along with patriotic slogans like Jai Karnataka, Nation First, and references to significant achievements such as Vikram Lander, Chandrayaan and Jai Jawaan Jai Kisan, grabbed a lot of attention. This innovative approach to decorating the temple has garnered praise from visitors.

The extraordinary decorations at Sri Sathya Ganapathi Temple will remain for an additional week. This extended period will give devotees an opportunity to visit the temple and witness this unique spectacle for themselves.

Last year, the temple focused on an eco-friendly theme for Ganesh Puja, where they used raw bananas, flowers and natural materials for decoration. Over time, the temple has gained a reputation for its unique festival decorations. In June, during Guru Purnima, the temple displayed over one lakh toys and sports items.

Similarly in Mumbai, the Gaud Saraswat Brahmin (GSB) Mandal has unveiled India’s most expensive Lord Ganesh idol, which has been decorated using gold and silver ornaments. As per reports, the idol has been adorned with 69 kg of gold and 336 kg of silver. Additionally, the management has insured the idol for Rs 360.45 crore.
