Farida Jalal, aged 75, has joined the cast of the upcoming Akshay Kumar-starrer Welcome To The Jungle, the third installment of the Welcome franchise. She is currently shooting for the comedy in Mumbai, according to a source in Hindustan Times.
“Farida ji takes up fewer projects nowadays due of her age and because she’s selective about the work she does,” the source told the entertainment portal, adding, “However, she was on board when she heard the script and found it to be a family entertainer. She has maintained one thing all these years – she always stars in films that a family can sit and watch together, right from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001) to Batti Gul Meter Chalu (2018).”
Directed by Ahmed Khan, the film boasts of an ensemble cast. It includes Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, Shreyas Talpade and Johnny Lever, Raveena Tandon, Jacqueliene Fernandez and Disha Patani. Not long back, Raveena opened up on the film during an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha. Speaking of it, the actress said that shooting with the ensemble cast has been a blast. “I think it’s a big party that’s happening there! We are having a blast. Shooting that was so much fun!” she said.
Meanwhile, on Friday morning, Disha Patani took to Instagram Stories to confirm that she’s shooting for the film.
When the first glimpse of the film was unveiled last year, it generated quite a buzz due to its stellar star cast and distinction from the two previous films. Shreyas Talpade, too, had opened up about it during an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha. “It’s a pretty interesting and funny story about these guys all coming together and pulling off a kind of stunt. The brief was very clear, let’s have some madness on set and let’s make sure we entertain people. I’m looking forward to the next big schedule we’ll have in March,” he had said.
The third instalment of the Welcome franchise, Welcome to the Jungle, will hit the theatres after much anticipation on December 20 this year.
