All-time closing high for Sensex, Nifty

Mumbai: The market witnessed a smart rally on Monday. The Sensex ended up 139.93 points or 1.32 per cent at 10735.36. It touched an all-time high of 10742.31.

The Nifty closed up 43.05 points or 1.37 per cent at 3190.40. It touched a life high of Rs 3194.

The CNX Midcap Index ended up 51.55 points or 1.13 per cent at 4602.30. It touched an all-time high of 4608.20.

The BSE Small Cap Index closed up 76.88 points at 6320.94. The BSE Midcap Index closed up 68.48 points at 4986.51.

The market breadth was positive, about 1414 shares advanced, 1065 shares declined, and 73 shares remained unchanged.

The total market turnover was at Rs 40670 crore. The BSE NSE cash turnover was at Rs 8413 crore. The NSE F&O turnover was at Rs 27306 crore. The BSE cash turnover was at Rs 4951 crore.

Hindalco, Tata Power, Tata Steel, NTPC, Nalco and M&M were the biggest index gainers on Monday.

The BSE Metal Index outperformed the other indices. It closed up 4.15 per cent or 315.74 points at 7925.53 due to gains in Nalco, Jindal Steel, Hindalco, SAIL, JSW Steel, Tata Steel, Jindal Saw, Sterlite Ind, Jindal Stainless and Sesa Goa.

Auto stocks like Ashok Leyland, TVS Motor, M&M, Tube Investment, Tata Motors, Amtek Auto, Hind Motors, Exide Industries and Cummins also moved up. The BSE Auto Index closed up 1.79 per cent at 5,346.01.

Oil stocks including MRPL, Reliance, Petronet LNG, ONGC, HPCL and Gail also surged. The BSE Oil & Gas Index closed up 1.68 per cent at 4,545.04.

The BSE Healthcare Index ended up 1.51 per cent at 3,668.47 amid buying in Pfizer, Wockhardt, Cipla, Ranbaxy Labs, Cadila Health, Divis Labs, Sterling Bio, Ipca Labs and GSK Pharma.

FMCG stocks like Britannia, ITC, Tata Tea, P&G, McDowell, Shaw Wallace and Nestle also spurted up. The BSE FMCG Index closed up 1.31 per cent at 2,026.48.

Consumer Durables stocks including Titan Industries, Blue Star and BPL also firmed up. The BSE Consumer Durables Index closed up 1.31 per cent at 3,266.56.

The BSE IT Index ended up 1.11 per cent at 3,787.63 as technology stocks like MphasiS BFL, I-Flex Solutions, HCL Tech, Hexaware Tech, Infosys and TCS also gained.

Capital goods stocks like KEC Infrastructures, Crompton Greaves, Thermax, Alstom Projects, Praj Industries, Aban LoydChiles, SKF India, Siemens also flared up. The BSE Capital Goods Index closed up 0.86 per cent at 7,775.64.

Banking stocks including PNB, Allahabad Bank, Union Bank, UTI Bank and ICICI Bank also stirred up. The BSE Bankex closed up 0.33 per cent at 5268.83.
