New Delhi: In a day of mixed trading markets closed flat, where in on the one hand stocks like Dabur India, Satyam, Ranbaxy Labs and Siemens witnessed selling pressure and on other hand stocks like Jet Airways, Sun Pharma, VSNL and Maruti Udyog surged.
The Sensex closed up 26.53 points or 0.19 per cent at 14209.24, and the Nifty ended up 12.30 points or 0.30 per cent at 4102.45.
About 1335 shares have advanced, 1273 shares declined, and 54 shares are unchanged.
Maruti Udyog, ITC, Jet Airways, Infosys, Sun Pharma and BHEL are top gainers on the indices.
Satyam, Ranbaxy Labs, Dabur India, Gujarat Ambuja Cements, Siemens and Reliance Energy are top losers on the indices.
The BSE Auto index was up 0.55 per cent or 30.84 points at 5650.66. Hind Motors, Punj Tractors, Maruti Udyog, Exide Industrie and Escorts gained.
The BSE Capital Goods index was up 0.09 per cent or 8.64 per cent at 9401.50. Praj Industries, Ingersoll Rand, HEG, Aban Offshore and BHEL ended in green.
The BSE FMCG index surged 1.32 per cent or 25.70 points at 1976.06. United Spirits, ITC, Britannia, HLL and Tata Tea firmed up.
The BSE Healthcare index closed up 0.34 per cent or 13.17 points at 3898.49. Glenmark, FDC, Orchid Chemical, Lupin and Aventis Pharma ended positive.
The BSE IT index was up 0.76 per cent or 40.59 at 5350.43. Infosys, Moser Baer, TCS, Hexaware Tech and HCL Info advanced.
The BSE Metal index was up 0.11 per cent or 9.57 points at 8982.52. Sesa Goa, SAIL, Tata Steel, Guj NRE Coke and Welspun Guj surged.
However, the BSE Bankex ended down 0.12 per cent or 8.78 points at 7476.70. Federal Bank, Oriental Bank, IOB, Andhra Bank and Allahabad Bank plunged.
The BSE Oil & Gas ended down 0.51 per cent or 33.64 points at 6624.25. Reliance Natura, Chennai Petro, MRPL, GAIL and Petronet LNG slipped down.
The NSE cash turnover was at Rs 7559.39 crore and the NSE F&O turnover was at Rs 34533.78 crore. The BSE cash turnover was Rs 3699.58 crore. Total market wide turnover was at Rs 45792.75 crore.
