Markets end with marginal gains
Sensex, which had lost 9.61 points on Tuesday, recovered by 36.65 points in the first five minutes of trading.

Mumbai: The markets were rangebound and ended with marginal gains. However, significant buying was seen in midcap stocks. The Sensex closed at 11,933.21 up 29 points. The Nifty up 4 points to close at 3477.

The BSE Small Cap Index closed at 5,952.50 up 46 points or 0.77 per cent.

The BSE Midcap Index ended at 4,988.32 up 20 points or 0.4 per cent.

The BSE sectoral indices closed mixed.

The BSE Metal Index gained 2 per cent at 8,557.45. Hind Zinc, Sterlite Ind, Jindal Steel, Sesa Goa witnessed buying interest.

The BSE Capital Goods Index was gained 1.4 per cent at 8,056.11. Crompton Greave, KEC Infrastruct, L&T, Greaves Cotton and Gammon India closed higher.

The BSE Oil and Gas Index gained 0.5 per cent at 5,777.76. HPCL, Chennai Petro, BPCL and IOC rose higher.

The BSE Health Care Index gained 0.2 per cent at 3,642.92. FDC, GlaxoSmithKline, Biocon, Sun Pharma, Dr Reddys Labs

closed in positive terrain.

The BSE Bankex was down 0.5 per cent at 5,406.67. Centurion BoP, Andhra Bank, Karnataka Bank, UTI Bank and HDFC Bank moved downwards.

The BSE IT Index lost 0.23 per cent to close at 4,340.30. HCL Tech, Hexaware Tech, Mphasis BFL, TCS closed in red.

The BSE Auto Index lost 0.07 per cent at 5,125.32. Amtek Auto, Mah and Mah, Apollo Tyres and Escorts declined on the bourses

The BSE FMCG gained 0.05 per cent to close at 2,037.37. Tata Tea, Nestle, ITC closed in positive terrain.

The NSE cash turnover was at Rs 6356.1 crore and the NSE F&O turnover was at Rs 19518.69 crore. The BSE cash turnover was Rs 3073.77 crore. Total market wide turnover was at Rs 28948.56 crore.
