The total passenger revenue earnings improved by 11.81 per cent and goods earnings by 15.86 per cent on YoY basis.

New Delhi: The Railways earned Rs 50,563.83 crore during April 2006-January 2007 as compared to Rs 43,806.35 crore during the same period in 2006, registering an increase of 15.43 per cent.

The total goods earnings went up from Rs 29,529.91 crore during April '05-January '06 to Rs 34,212.55 crore during April '06-January '07, an increase of 15.86 per cent.

The total passenger revenue earnings improved from Rs 12634.06 crore to Rs 14125.55 crore during the period, registering an increase of 11.81 per cent.

The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs 1370.86 crore as compared to Rs 977.41 crore, an increase of 40.25 per cent.

The total sundry earnings went up from Rs 664.97 crore to Rs 854.87 crore, registering an increase of 28.56 per cent.

The total approximate number of passengers booked during April '06-January '07 were 5269.60 million compared to 4921.28 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 7.08 per cent.

In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the number of passengers booked were 2925.76 million and 2343.84 million compared to 2777.09 million and 2144.17 million during the same period last year, an increase of 5.35 per cent and 9.31 per cent respectively.
