New Delhi: The Indian Railways has earned Rs 84,155.40 crore during April 2011-January 2012 period as against Rs 76,223.07 cr during the same period last year, registering an increase of 10.41 per cent.
The total goods earnings have gone up from Rs 50,916.21 cr during April 2010-January 2011 to Rs 56,247.30 cr in April 2011-January 2012, an increase of 10.47 per cent.
The total passenger earnings during first ten months of the financial year 2011-12 were Rs 23,345.48 cr compared to Rs 21,336.88 cr during the same period last year, registering an increase of 9.41 per cent.
The earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs 2353.55 cr during this period compared to Rs 2093.62 crore during the same period last year, a growth of 12.42 per cent.
The total numbers of passengers booked during this period were 6911.69 million compared to 6577.15 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 5.09 per cent.
In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the number of passengers booked during this period were 3651.87 million and 3259.82 million respectively as compared to 3524.86 million and 3052.29 million in the previous year.
