Cyclone Michaung brought life to a standstill in many parts of Tamil Nadu this week. As per the Association of Indian Entrepreneurs (AIE), it has also caused an estimated economic loss of Rs 11,000 crore. The shooting locations of many Tamil daily soaps have also been severely affected by this cyclone. They have become waterlogged due to the accumulation of flood water at the shooting site. The most famous shooting spot, ARS Gardens Studio Chennai, has also been severely impacted by the onslaught of cyclones. Many popular daily soaps like Pandian Stores are filmed at this shooting spot. Makeshift rooms and houses have been specially set up here for the shoot.
As per reports, it will take about 1 week for the rainwater to be drained completely from the shooting site. Only then the shooting of the serials can be resumed at this spot. Due to this problem, many directors have not been able to resume shooting of their projects. Now, as per the reports, the directors plan to relocate the shooting sites to other places that have not been impacted by the cyclone. Not only the serials, the shooting sites of films have also been negatively impacted by the cyclone.
Many celebrities from the Tamil cinema have stepped forward to contribute generously to help people affected by flood due to Cyclone Michaung. This includes the prominent actor Sivakarthikeyan. On December 10, he met DMK (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) minister and actor-producer Udhayanidhi Stalin. Sivakarthikeyan donated Rs 10 lakh to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. This donation is to help people affected by Cyclone Michaung and the flood in Chennai and neighbouring districts. Udhayanidhi Stalin confirmed this news via a Twitter post.
