South Director Ajay Gnanamuthu To Make His Bollywood Debut Soon: Reports
Following the footsteps of the likes of Mani Ratnam and AR Murugadoss, Ajay Gnanamuthu may add his name to the list of Tamil directors who worked in Bollywood.

Over the years, there have been successful crossovers between South Indian filmmakers and Bollywood. They have given us some of the biggest Indian films, the most recent example being Atlee’s Jawan. Now, according to reports another South director is set to make his Bollywood debut with this top Bollywood actor.

Directors like Prabhu Deva, Mani Ratnam, AR Murugadoss, and Sandeep Reddy Vanga have given or are still giving superhits in Bollywood. From Wanted to Holiday, they have worked with the top actors in the Hindi film industry. As per the reports, another name is going to be added to the list soon. If rumours are believed to be true, Tamil director R Ajay Gnanamuthu is set to make his Bollywood filmmaking debut with superstar Ajay Devgn. Ajay Gnanamuthu is known for films like Demonte Colony, Imaikka Nodigal and Cobra.

Gnanamuthu started his career as an assistant producer and filmmaker with AR Murugadoss. With Murugadoss, he worked in films like 7aum Arivu and Thupakki.

Then, in 2015, he made his official directorial debut with the horror film Demonte Colony. The film’s cast includes Arulnithi, Ramesh Thilak, Sananth, and Abhishek Joseph George. His second film was released in 2018, titled Imaikkaa Nodigal and starred Nayanthara, Atharva and Anurag Kashyap. He worked with actor Vikram for his third film Cobra, that released in 2022.

Reportedly, he has completed the shooting for the sequel of Demonte Colony, called Demonte Colony 2. In an interview, he talked about getting the idea for the sequel, he said, “Arulnithi and I have been talking since a year after the first film’s release about making a sequel.” According to him, he got the idea for a sequel at the start of 2022. He revealed that he wanted to write as far as the story went, “I decided to write as far as the story took me, and now, we have material that would last for two more sequels.” The film is expected to be released next year.
