Former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad has once again given some food for thought with his latest post, asking for the "best 15 T20 players in India" to be selected for the upcoming ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024

Former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad has once again given some food for thought with his latest post, asking for the “best 15 T20 players in India” to be selected for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. We are less than two months away from the commencement of the upcoming edition of the T20 World Cup as it kicks off on June 1. The tournament will take place in the West Indies and the United States of America after the conclusion of the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The performances of the players in IPL 2024 will be used as a barometer to select the team that boards the flight to the Americas. Prasad has urged the selectors to pick the best players given the extremely big pool of talent available. The former India cricketer believes that India can win the 2024 T20 World Cup provided that the team management “pick the best” players. India last won the T20 World Cup in 2007 in South Africa.

“I hope and pray that the best 15 T20 players in India are on the plane for the T20 World Cup. We can win the tournament with the talent we have but important to pick the best,” Venkatesh Prasad posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

Venkatesh Prasad shared this post on the conclusion of the IPL 2024 match between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings on Sunday. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Shivam Dube scored terrific half-centuries each to help CSK post a challenging total and beat MI by 20 runs.

Earlier, Venkatesh Prasad posted about the three players that he definitely wants to see in the middle-order for India. Prasad had written on X, “Shivam Dube for his striking ability against spinners, Surya for being the best T20 international batter and Rinku Singh for his exceptional finishing ability. It will be great if India finds a way to have these 3 in the 11 in the T20 WC. With Virat and Rohit , this will leave spot for just a keeper batsman. Interesting to see how it pans out.”

Both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are having excellent seasons individually, being among the top-scorers of IPL 2024 so far. Suryakumar Yadav is the No.1 T20I batsman in the world, while Rinku Singh in the limited opportunities has shown an outrageous ball-striking ability. He has also performed well for India since making his debut.

Shivam Dube, meanwhile, has transcended into a fearsome middle-order batter since being roped in by CSK. It remains to be seen which players will feature for India at the 2024 T20 World Cup, but the battle for places will certainly be intense.
