DC sent out the combination of hard-hitting phenomenon Jake Fraser-McGurk and Prithvi Shaw to open the innings. And boy, did they get off to a fiery start with Fraser-McGurk doing what he does best, slashing pacers off for boundaries, as he notched up a quick 23 runs in 14 balls, before Sandeep Warrier got the better of him in the third over.

Warrier wouldn’t just stop there though, as he took the onslaught to Shaw next, and bowled a shorter and faster delivery, tempting the Delhi opener to blindly slash away at it with an upper cut towards the leg side.

It was then Noor Ahmad’s moment to shine as the Afghan who was at deep square-leg made a stellar run to just about reach the ball, as he leapt for it and produced a stunner.

The umpire went upstairs for a third-umpire’s review as well, and upon replay found out that Noor had just about barely wrapped his fingers around the base of the ball, absorbing the impact as he fell and thereby protecting it from touching the ground. Hence, the decision stood and Shaw departed as DC went down 2 crucial wickets in 3 overs.

To add more turmoil, Warrier came back in during the fifth over, to now tempt West Indian hard-hitter Shai Hope to swing one wildly as well and sky it high, to make for a wondrous catch from Noor’s Afghan counterpart, Rashid Khan as well, as Delhi went down three wickets within the powerplay.

GT have most definitely gotten off to a favorable start, winning the toss and electing to bowl first. DC skipper Rishabh Pant was indifferent to the outcome of the same but would be a bit irked now after the start their opponents have achieved so far.
