'I've Given up...': Pat Cummins' Startling Admission After SRH Set New IPL Benchmark
A jaw-dropping 549 runs were scored across the 40 overs during RCB vs SRH in Bengaluru on Monday - a new IPL record.

Inside three weeks, Sunrisers Hyderabad have twice set a new team record for the highest ever total in IPL history. On March 27, SRH had broken the 11-year-old record of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (263/5) by scoring 277/3 against Mumbai Indians. Fast forward to April 15, they racked up a gigantic total of 287/3, this time against RCB, to improve on their own record.

It was a night where every bowler wished to have been a batter. 81 boundaries were scored during the contest – 41 from SRH batters and the rest by their RCB  counterparts. The pitch at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium was unforgiving to the bowlers with Abhishek Sharma’s economy of 10 being the lowest of the night.

SRH captain Pat Cummins was pleased with his team’s 25-run win but admitted he’s now given up on reading the pitch, especially the one in Bengaluru.

“I’ve given up trying to read the pitches. Sometimes it (pitch at Chinnaswamy) looks like it will be tough and plays beautifully. Chinnaswamy some times it looks dry but it still results in 200-plus” Cummins said during the post-match presentation.

When asked by presenter Murali Kartik that the manner in which bowlers were thrashed on Monday, will they go extinct in a few years, Cummins quipped, “Give me a few more years please! You try your best. It does feel like a big score like that, you bowl an over for seven or eight (runs per over) you can have a big impact on the game.”

Cummins said he didn’t think that SRH crossing 277 will happen again.

“I feel like wish I was a batter. Wonderful game of cricket. Against Mumbai a few weeks ago, I thought that’s not going to happen again, but it has happened again,” he said.

Cummins is pleased with the manner in which SRH players are responding.

“We’re really happy, four wins now. The way guys have gone about is pleasing. They are playing with a smile, they’re loving it. Few wily old bowlers doing a great job as well,” he said.
