Rohit Sharma Looks to Extend His Most T20I Runs Record at Central Broward Stadium in Florida

Rohit Sharma is returning to one of his favourite hunting grounds in the T20I format. The Indian skipper recently led India to a third consecutive T20 World Cup 2024 group-stage victory when they got the better of tournament co-hosts USA in New York.

Now India have one group match left to play against Canada and it will be played at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium in Florida and it’s a venue where Rohit has been quite productive with the bat.

Rohit has scored 196 runs in five matches for India when playing in in Lauderhill. He also holds the record for most fifties (2) and the highest number of sixes (13) at the venue.

Apart from these impressive numbers in Florida, Rohit is closing in on another major record in T20I cricket.

Rohit is on the verge of registering 200 sixes in the format. If he reaches this milestone against Canada on Saturday, he will become the first batter in the world to record double hundreds of T20I sixes.

He currently leads the chart with 194 maximums. New Zealand’s Martin Guptill follows him with 173 sixes and England skipper Jos Buttler takes the third position with 130 sixes so far.

Rohit is also the joint-leading scorer for India in the T20Is with 4042 runs alongside Virat Kohli.

Both the batters will have the opportunity to take the lead in India’s upcoming match against Canada.

If the game gets called off due to rain, both India and Canada will earn a point. Following this fixture, the Men in Blue will leave for the Caribbean for the Super Eight phase of the T20 World Cup 2024.

India defeated Ireland, Pakistan and USA to collect six points and qualify for the next round of the T20I showpiece. After facing Canada, they will start gearing up for the Super Eight stage where they will first take on Afghanistan next week.
