Kolkata Knight Riders capped off a memorable IPL 2024 with their third title win as they thrashed Sunrisers Hyderabad in Chennai in the summit clash on Sunday night. This was KKR’s first IPL title in 10 years as the Shreyas Iyer-led franchise ended their wait in spectacular fashion.
Shreyas was expectedly elated with the result and he thanked KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan for his encouragement, terming him as the ‘heartbeat’ of the team.

“Special mention to the heartbeat of this team @iamsrk! Thank you for all your words of inspiration and encouragement,” Shreyas captioned an image of him and Shah Rukh posing with the IPL trophy.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Shreyas addressed the entire KKR family including the fans thanking for their contribution.
“To my entire KKR family, we’ve worked tirelessly for this moment. We’ve played for each other, we’ve sacrificed so much for each other, and it’s to get our hands on this prized trophy. To the owners, management, coaching staff, my teammates and the fans, from the bottom of my heart, thank you,” he posted.
KKR were dominant throughout the season as they topped the points table to storm into the IPL playoffs with nine victories and three defeats. In the first qualifier, they outshined Sunrisers Hyderabad before beating them again in the title clash at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
After Mumba Indians and Chennai Super Kings (five IPL titles each) KKR are the second-most successfull franchise in IPL history with three titles.
“We played like invincibles throughout the season,” Shreyas said during the post-match presentation. “There’s so much to cherish right now. It is pleasing, the performance has been flawless throughout. I am running out of words right now. We have been tremendous from game one, we stepped up today. All we demanded from ourselves was to back each other whatever the situation is.”
