A confident Bangladesh are expected to arrive land in Chennai on Sunday for their two-match Test series against India that gets underway from September 19. The tourists have never beaten India in Tests but thanks to their historic series win in Pakistan recently, the Najmul Hossain Shanto-led side will be fancying their chances and dreaming of creating more history.

But can Bangladesh, given their strong spin department, actually pull off a Test series win on Indian soil something no team has been able to in 12 years?
Former India allrounder Ajay Jadeja thinks that propping up Bangladesh based on their 2-0 clean sweep of Pakistan isn’t right. He says India are currently a ‘far superior’ team than compared to Pakistan.
“Any team which has come just after winning will always think they can win. But there is a difference between the Pakistan team at the moment with the India cricket team. The Indian team is a far superior team,” Jadeja told reports in Kolkata.
However, he does feel that Bangladesh will give India a tough fight.
“But yes, from their (Bangladesh’s) point of view, they will believe that since they have beaten Pakistan, why cannot they (beat India). But we are a better side, but they will definitely be a handful. They play spin well, they bowl spin, so conditions suit,” Jadeja said.
The Bangladesh series will be the start of a bumper Test season for India that will see them play five matches at home (2 vs Bangladesh and 3 vs New Zealand) followed by a five-match tour of Australia in November.
While Jadeja thinks that the Tour Down Under is still some time away but does back India to replicate the success they have tasted on their previous two tours of the nation.
“November is far off but we have done well in Australia in the past. Why should we not think that we will do it again. We should only get better from there,” he said.
