Team India posted a dominant 7-wicket win over Bangladesh in the first game of the three-match T20 series at home as the men in blue bulldozed the Bangla Tigers by chasing down the target of 128 runs with 49 deliveries to spare.

India bundled out the visitors for a low total of 127 runs in 19.5 overs as Arshdeep Singh and Varun Chakravarthy picked three-fers. The batting unit excelled at hunting down the target in just 11.5 overs thanks to sizeable contributions from Hardik Pandya, skipper Suryakumar Yadav and Sanju Samson.

Captain Suryakumar was thrilled with the statement performance and stated that the unit demonstrated character to pull off their plans with aplomb at the Gwalior International Cricket Stadium.

“We just tried to back our skills and what we decided in the team meeting, we just walked the talk,” the skipper said.

“The way the guys showed their character on the field, the first time playing on a new ground, and the way we batted, showed our character,” he added.

Promising Indian pacer Mayank Yadav made his debut on the day and also managed to pick up his first international wicket as he dismissed Mahmadullah. Nitish Kumar Reddy also pulled on the famous blue shirt for the first time and marked it with a 16-run innings.

Suryakumar was excited about the newcomers and touched up on the quality in addition and the options the players provide the team with.

“Very excited and looking forward to seeing them in the next games. It’s a good headache to have when you are on the field when you have extra bowling options,” Suryakumar said.

He also emphasised the benefits of learning from each game and expressed his willingness to improve on particular areas ahead of the second game of the series against Bangladesh slated to be played on the 9th of October at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

“You always learn something new playing every game. There will be a few areas to improve, we’ll sit down and talk about it before the next game.,” he signed off.
