Zimbabwe’s ODI series against Ireland is about to come to an end with the duo playing their final game this weekend. The first ODI of the series ended in a no result after rain interrupted the game during Zimbabwe’s batting in the first innings. In the second match, Zimbabwe had a fairly underwhelming showing with their top order combining for a mere 15 runs.
They tried to recover the game in the second half with Brandon Mavuta and Blessing Muzarabani combining for four wickets. However, Zimbabwe just weren’t able to stop the Irish offense with the visitors running away with a four-wicket victory. The hosts will now be eagerly hoping to tie the series by picking up a win in their final game.
Zimbabwe will face Ireland at the Harare Sports Club on December 17. In the second ODI, Ireland’s Joshua Little delivered a jaw-dropping performance to dismantle Zimbabwe’s batting line-up completely. In his 10-over spell, the bowler scalped six wickets while maintaining an economy of 3.6.
In the second innings, Curtis Campher stepped up for the side and smashed 66 runs in 71 balls to secure the win for the visitors. They have now set themselves up for a potential 2-0 against Zimbabwe while playing away from home. It will be interesting to see if they can convert the final victory.
