The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is poised to become the largest examination nationwide in the coming years. The examination is conducted for the students who have passed Class 12 and upon clearing it, they will get admission to any central university, state university and a few private universities. The CUET exam is conducted both for undergrad and master’s courses.
Registration for the CUET examination in 2024 will begin on February 19. Candidates who are planning to take the exam will have to visit the website at www.cuet.samarth.ac.in. Preparing for the CUET exam is relatively straightforward, as its syllabus aligns with the 12th board exam syllabus (CUET UG Syllabus). So, let’s look at some important information regarding CUET UG 2024:
CUET UG 2024: Exam Dates
The CUET UG exam is conducted for candidates who have passed Class 12. The CUET UG 2024 exam will be held between May 15 and May 31, 2024. This year, there has been a longer schedule for these exams because of the large number of applications.
CUET UG 2024: Examination Mode and Timing
The CUET UG 2024 exam will be held in hybrid mode. With this, candidates from rural areas will have the facility to take the exam close to home. The CUET UG exam will be conducted daily in 3 shifts: 9 am to 11 am, 12.30 pm to 2 pm and 4 pm to 5.30 pm. It has also been found that the University Grants Commission (UGC) will be using many schools, colleges, and educational institutions as exam centres. This will encourage many students in remote and small areas to appear for the exams as well.
CUET UG 2024: Exam Pattern
For the CUET UG 2024 examination, UGC has decided that this year they will be conducting exams on an optical mark recognition (OMR) sheet in place of a computer-based test (CBT).
CUET UG 2024: Choice of Subjects
Last year, CUET candidates were asked to choose 10 subjects for the examination. But for the CUET UG 2024 exam, the candidates will just have to choose 6 subjects. According to reports, most of the candidates were not choosing the full 10 options. By reducing the number of subjects on the test paper, the allotment of exam centres will be easier. It has also been found that the candidates will have to choose 3 main subjects, 2 language subjects and 1 general subject.
