There is no dearth of UPSC aspirants in our country but not everyone can make it when it comes to acing the toughest exam in India. Those who do make for success stories but the one we are about to tell you here is different. While the drive to crack the exam develops in the youth at an early age, here we have a UPSC ranker who did not even wish to get into the civil services and longed for a different career altogether.
Pauravi Gupta, a resident of Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan, never dreamt of being in the civil services. Her childhood dream was to become a Chartered Accountant. This is why she even chose to study in the commerce stream to realise her dream. She had gone as far as appearing for and passing the Common Proficiency Test (CPT), the entry-level exam for admission into the Chartered Accountancy course.
She soon came across some friends who were preparing for civil service. Influenced by them, a drive to serve the country through the civil services was invoked in her. Additionally, Pauravi’s uncle was an IRS officer. Collectively influenced, Pauravi decided to quit studying Chartered Accountancy and become an IAS/IPS instead. She began preparing for the UPSC exam.
Pauravi’s parents fully supported her decision to leave her CA studies and prepare for the UPSC Civil Services Examination. Both of her parents are teachers and run a school. They instilled in her the belief that no goal is too big to achieve. If you set a goal, it is not impossible to reach it. They wholeheartedly supported Pauravi in this endeavour. Pauravi Gupta graduated from Indraprastha Women’s College, Delhi University. Immediately after completing her graduation, she appeared for the UPSC exam for the first time in 2020 but did not succeed. Undeterred, she made two more serious attempts, both of which also failed. However, she finally achieved success on her fourth attempt. She received a rank of 213.
