In today’s time, people’s inclination towards becoming an advocate is increasing, and individuals study law to join this profession. Member of the Bar Council Amarendra Nath Singh said that under the Advocates Act, the Bar Council is a legislative body that exists in all the states. Before registering, you have to submit your law degree and all your educational documents, along with three photographs to the Bar Council office.
Education Qualification and Age Limit
To register as a new advocate, one must have a law or LLB degree from any recognised university or college. No age limit has been set for this. People can start practising at any age in any court or high court by taking the registration form from the Bar Council of the state.
Application Fee
The registration form from the Bar Council must be deposited with Rs 10 and a bank draft for Rs 16,665. After registering with the Bar Council, there is an additional Tatkal charge of Rs 5,000 if you wish to acquire a card right away. For normal registration, one has to wait for three months, and their Bar Council card is sent to the mentioned address by post. If a person over 30 years of age wants to register with the Bar Council, then an additional charge of Rs 28,665 is levied.
It is important to note that an individual who is currently serving a jail sentence and has any criminal inclinations is ineligible to register with the Bar Council as an advocate. In addition, he should not be involved in any government service or business.
Amarendra Singh further said that after registering with the Bar Council, a person can undertake legal business in any state court, including the Tehsil High Court and the District Subordinate Court.
