The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT Gandhinagar) Department of Cognitive and Brain Sciences is presently accepting applications for its interdisciplinary Masters in Cognitive Science programme. IIT Gandhinagar established an M.Sc. (Cognitive Science) programme in 2013 and a PhD programme in Cognitive Science in 2010.

The application procedure for this M.Sc cpurse includes an online written test followed by an in-person interview round. Candidates interested in applying may visit the official website at https://admissions.iitgn.ac.in/pgadmission/.

The programme’s primary appeal to applicants is its innovative curriculum, which includes multidisciplinary courses in Psychology, Philosophy, Computation, and Neuroscience. Through integrated lab courses and hands-on research, students will study a variety of approaches and experimental techniques, such as behavioural investigations, physiological measures, brain stimulation, brain mapping using EEG, and functional MRI.

Applicants of the M.Sc. programme is the 2-month summer internship can pursue abroad with competitive fellowships like the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship, the Shastri Indo-Canadian Fellowship, the DAAD Exchange Fellowship among a few, and other top Indian universities like NIMHANS, Bengaluru, IIT Madras, IIT Mandi, IIIT Hyderabad, and IIT Delhi.

Prof. Sameer Dalvi, Head of the Department of Cognitive and Brain Sciences, in the press release acknowledges the programmes distinct features, saying, “The interdisciplinary nature of all courses at IIT Gandhinagar makes a student’s learning experience highly enriching.”

The M.Sc. in Cognitive Science provides a greater grasp of the mind, brain, and cognition while allowing students to personalise the course to their interests, he added.

A wide range of job options and research opportunities are available to graduates of IIT Gandhinagar’s M.Sc. in Cognitive Science programmes. A wide range of industrial professions are available to graduates, such as those in education, robotics, consumer behaviour, AI engineering, linguistic analysis, UX, data analysis, product development, and cognitive rehabilitation. Alternatively, academic prospects in domains such as Human-Computer Interface, Neuroscience, and Decision Making are also available. Furthermore, the curriculum provides students with the opportunity to establish their own businesses.

Eligible applicants admitted to the M.Sc.
