How Is the Selection Done?

IAS, IPS, IRS, IFS, and IES officers are selected through the UPSC Civil Services Examination. For this, candidates have to appear in three stages of the examination. Candidates successful in this examination are called for an interview (interview/personality test).

What Is the Salary?

After final selection for IAS, IPS, IRS, IFS, and IES, the basic pay of these officers, i.e., the initial salary, is Rs 56,100. Later, based on experience and qualification, the salary goes up to Rs 1,50,000. When any of these officers completes 37 years of service and reaches the level of Cabinet Secretary in his seniority, then their salary goes up to Rs 2,50,000.

How Does Salary Increase?

The salary of candidates selected for civil services is Rs 56,100 per month for one to four years. After this, it increases to Rs 67,700 for 5 to 8 years. When they reach the 9th year of service, their salary increases to Rs 78,800. After completing 13 years of service, they start getting a salary up to Rs 1,18,500. Similarly, during 16 to 24 years of service, they get a salary of Rs 1,44,200. After reaching 25 to 30 years of service, they get a salary of Rs 1,82,200. Similarly, after completing 37 years of service, the salary of officers reaches Rs 2,50,000.

What Facilities Do Officers Get?

Candidates selected for the civil services get many facilities apart from salary. IAS and IPS officers get government accommodation. Apart from this, government vehicles with drivers and medical facilities in government hospitals for the family are provided. They also get security personnel. On retirement, these officers also get pensions and other retirement benefits.
