Shark Tank India is a popular reality show and there is no doubt about it. However, it has often been alleged, even by sharks, that several brands come to the show, not to get a deal but only to promote their products. In a recent interview with News18 Showsha, Lalit Kalani, whose rum brand named Rock Paper Rum secured a deal of Rs 50 lakh from Vineeta Singh, also shared insight on the same.
The Shark Tank India pitcher admitted that the show is “an amazing platform for marketing” but explained that when he went on the sets, he found other pitchers also much interested in clinching a deal.
“I would not say so. We met many other pitchers during the process and most entrepreneurs were generally interested in getting a deal with the sharks – some for money and some, for mentorship. Yes, there is no denying that this is an amazing platform for marketing and what better than getting a deal along with marketing?” Kalani told us.
While Rock Paper Rum secured a deal with Vineeta Singh, the founder revealed that they aimed to get an all-shark deal. “On our episode, I would say that all sharks were humble, but it was really amazing to see how humble Riteish from Oyo was especially given the height of success he has achieved. Since he was a new shark on the show no one knew what he would be like,” he said.
The entrepreneur further revealed that the appearance in Shark Tank India 3 has given a major boost to his business too. “The episode has given our brand a lot of credibility within the industry and our brand awareness has increased significantly. We are getting new distribution opportunities not only from other states in India but also from other countries. It is a really exciting time for us to see the amount of interest coming in,” he added.
Shark Tank India recently concluded its third season. This time, the sharks’ panel included Vineeta Singh, Namita Thapar, Aman Gupta, Peyush Bansal, Anupam Mittal, Amit Jain, Ritesh Agarwal, Azhar Iqubal, Radhika Gupta and Ronnie Screwvala.
