Cassano back with Serie A club Sampdoria

Genoa: Antonio Cassano will be allowed to return to Sampdoria on January 1, but his wages will be cut by 50 per cent.

Italian media reports say the decision was made by an arbitration panel that had been called to resolve the dispute between Cassano and club president Riccardo Garrone.

Sampdoria was trying to cancel its contract with the Italy striker after he insulted Garrone in October. Since then, he missed Italy's international with Romania on November 17 and has been linked with a number of Italian clubs as well as Manchester City.

Prior to the argument, the former Roma and Real Madrid player appeared to have put a tempestuous past behind him and helped the club qualify for this year's Europa League.
