Talking about his team's prepration ahead of FC Pune City's opening Indian Super League match against fans' favourites Delhi Dynamos on Tuesday, the fomer French striker David Trezeguet said that he is excited about being part of India's football renaissance and that his team is looking very sharp and is ready for the test against the side from the capital city.
"Team is bonding well and Indian players are looking good. Hopefully their experience of playing with the international stars will help them become better players and who knows one day they can play in top leagues in Europe and around the world," the Pune marquee player said.
When asked about his experince with the ISL at this nascent stage, Trezeguet said he is pretty happy to be part of the league and is hoping that it can be a huge success.
"I am happy to be part of this new concept in Indian football. Players like Alessandro del Piero and Nicolas Anelka are playing here, and it raises the profile of the game. I am glad to be witnessing the emergence of a new football tournament," the Frenchman added.
Tuesday's match in Delhi will see former players and super stars of the game Trezeguet and Del Piero pitted against each other. The two have spent time in Juventus earlier in their careers and football fans all around the world will see them take on each other in a match that has got the fans excited.
"It's superb that we can see such huge names of football in action live. Who would have imagined few years ago that the who's who of football will play in India and there will be such a league in India that will see fans get excited about a sport that is not cricket", Nikhil Sharma a football enthusiast told IBNLive Sports.
