Turin: Juventus bounced back from their first Serie A loss in two seasons with a comfortable 4-0 win over Danish side Nordsjaelland on Wednesday to boost their chances of advancing in the Champions League. Claudio Marchisio put the Italian champions ahead six minutes in, Arturo Vidal doubled the lead in the 23rd and Sebastian Giovinco added another for the hosts in the 37th. Substitute Fabio Quagliarella sealed the victory in the 75th. Compared to the 1-1 draw between the clubs two weeks ago, this contest was completely one-sided, with Alessando Matri also hitting the post for Juventus in the 26th.
It was Juve's first win in this season's competition. Still, Juventus sits third in Group E behind Shakhtar Donetsk and defending champion Chelsea, who have seven points each following Chelsea's 3-2 win over the Ukrainian club in the other group match Wednesday. Juventus are next with six points, while Nordsjaelland are last with one point. On Saturday, Juve's 49-match winning run in Serie A ended with a 3-1 home loss to Inter Milan. "The most important thing was to win," Marchisio said. "Forgetting about the loss to Inter, this was a key match for us."
Juventus immediately took control, with Marchisio redirecting a cross from Mauricio Isla within the box. Vidal then took advantage of a defensive error and scored from a near impossible angle before the ball went out for a goal kick. Giovinco took a pass from Andrea Pirlo and finished off a counterattack with a long, accurate shot. Quagliarella replaced Giovinco in the 60th and scored 15 minutes later with a header after Matri flicked on Pirlo's corner. Juventus next hosts Chelsea, while Nordsjaelland faces Shakhtar.
