Liverpool: Liverpool and Rangers will face off in a friendly match during the Premier League and SPL seasons, on October 18.

The match, set for a 7.30 kick-off at the Ibrox, will mark the returns of Danny Wilson and Charlie Adam, both former Rangers players, with Wilson arriving directly from the Scottish champions at the beginning of last season and Adam returning following his move from Glasgow back in 2009.

The most recent meeting between the two clubs came back in 2008 when Rafa Benitez was still in charge of the Anfield club, and the Reds ran out comfortable 4-0 winners at Ibrox with Fernando Torres, David NGog, Xabi Alonso and Yossi Benyoun grabbing the goals.

The match will be sandwiched in between two home Premier League games, with Liverpool welcoming Manchester United to Anfield three days before and Norwich City the following weekend.

Rangers manager Ally McCoist was extremely excited about the announcement and believes the match will attract many fans.

“We are delighted to confirm Liverpool will be heading to Ibrox in October," McCoist said, according to the club's official website.

"They are a fantastic club and their squad is packed with world-class players, so I have no doubt this game will capture the imagination of our supporters."

"We look forward to welcoming Charlie Adam and Danny Wilson back to Ibrox and I am sure the fans will turn out in huge numbers once again to watch us in action against such a high-profile English Premiership side."
