Real Sociedad says Mexico forward Carlos Vela is expected to be sidelined for at least two months after surgery on his right knee.
Spain: Real Sociedad say Mexico forward Carlos Vela is expected to be sidelined for at least two months after surgery on his right knee.
The Spanish club say Vela underwent the operation on Monday to repair "a tear in the meniscus of his right knee."
It adds that in normal cases, eight weeks of rehabilitation are needed for a player to return to the pitch.
Vela hurt his leg during Saturday's 4-1 loss at Real Madrid, where he had to be substituted.
Sociedad are in 13th place of the 20-team league. Vela is coach David Moyes' first-choice attacking player.
