London: Uefa has opened disciplinary proceedings against Arsene Wenger for not following the terms of his touchline ban during Arsenal's 1-0 victory over Udinese in the Champions League play-off first-leg on Tuesday.

Wenger was seen making phone calls to his backroom team to pass on messages and instructions to his players during the match, something which Uefa says infringes the ruling.

The governing body claims Wenger's actions during the match against Udinese were a violation of the terms of his ban and he may now face further recriminations.

The Frenchman received his one-match touchline ban after a fiery encounter with official Massimo Busacca following their exit from the Champions League last year to Barcelona.

The Gunners boss was incensed at Busacca's decision to send off Robin van Persie for kicking the ball away in the round of 16 tie and confronted him at the final whistle.
