How to Edit a Caption on TikTok
Open the video you want to edit. If you made a typo in your caption or just want to change what you wrote, you can now edit your captions after posting on TikTok. You can only edit a caption if it's been fewer than 7 days since you posted the video. You'll only be able to edit your caption once a day.
Tap the three dots ••• . You'll see this at the bottom-right corner of the video.
Scroll right and tap Edit post. It's toward the end of the menu at the bottom of the screen. This opens a helpful editor that allows you to edit parts of your TikTok post after posting it.
Edit your caption and tap Save. In addition to editing the caption, you can add or change hashtags, mentions, your location, and even your cover image.
Why can't I edit captions on TikTok?
The "Edit post" option is only available if it's been less than 7 days since you made your post. If you don't see "Edit post" after tapping the three dots on your video, this may be why.
If you already edited the post once today, you can't edit it again. Captions, cover images, and other editable content can only be edited once per day.
The post may be too new. If you just posted a video, you may not see the option to edit the caption until it's been fully uploaded to TikTok. Give TikTok a few moments to finish processing your video and try again later.
You might need to update the app. If it's been a while since you updated TikTok on your Android, iPhone, or iPad, check for and install updates to make sure you have the "Edit post" option.
