Check the shredder blades.
Unplug then open the shredder. If the blades are too chipped, then you may need a new shredder.
Know the limitations of your shredder.
Your shredder might not be able to shred certain materials. For example, your shredder may not be able to shred banking cards or may get jammed if you try to shred paper clips or staples. Knowing the limitations of your shredder can help you avoid breaking your shredder.
Insert the documents or cards into the shredder.
This fragments the documents into hundreds of pieces. You will not be able to piece the documents back together after doing this. Cards go into the slot labeled "Insert card here". Your card could be oriented in any way.
Turn the shredder on.
Press and hold the shredder button or turn the switch. This will allow the shredding of the documents. If the shredder gets jammed, then press the "Reverse" button or turn the switch to "Reverse".
Recycle the fragments.
The resulting paper/plastic can be recycled. Save trees and the environment by recycling the fragments! Open the shredder and dispose of the contents in the recycling bin.
