Finding User ID
Make sure Developer Mode is enabled. The next section walks you through how to enable Developer Mode on a desktop and using the mobile app on a smartphone. You can get a user ID from a server, chat group, or direct message with another user. You don't have to be friends with someone to get their user ID.
Find the user you want to get the ID from. You can get the ID from that user in a server, group chat, or a DM.
Right-click (desktop) or tap the name and tap ••• (mobile). When you do either of these, a menu pops up.
Click or tap Copy User ID. After you select that option, the 18-digit ID number is copied to your internal clipboard and you can paste it anywhere, like in an email with Discord customer support. By using the user ID, you can search for users on Discord. You can also send friend requests with the user ID.
Enabling Developer Mode
Navigate to user settings. You can get here multiple ways, based on your platform: Using the desktop app or web browser, click the gear icon next to your user profile picture. Using the mobile app on Android, iPhone, or iPad, tap your profile picture, then tap the gear icon in the top right corner.
Click or tap Advanced. You'll find it under "App Settings."
Tap the toggle next to "Developer Mode" to turn it on. The switch will be colored, pointing to the right, and showing a checkmark if Developer Mode is enabled.
Finding Server ID
Navigate to the server. You need to be in the server to get the ID. Server IDs don't help users join servers. Instead, these are tools for developers to use so bots can easily differentiate between Discord servers.
Right-click (desktop) or long-tap (mobile) the server's profile picture. Another menu will appear. On the mobile app, tap More Options.
Click or tap Copy Server ID. You'll find this at the bottom of the menu.
Finding Channel ID
Navigate to the channel where you want to copy the ID from. You have to be in the channel to copy the channel ID. Channel IDs don't help users join channels. Instead, share a channel invite to get others to join the channel.
Right-click (desktop) or long-tap (mobile) the channel name. Another menu will appear.
Click or tap Copy Channel ID. You'll find this at the bottom of the menu. Paste the ID anywhere.
Finding Message Link
Navigate to the message. This is super useful when you're referring to a previous message. Others can click the link and go directly to the message.
Right-click (desktop) or long-tap (mobile) the message. Another menu will appear.
Click or tap Copy Message Link. You'll find this at the bottom of the menu. Paste the link anywhere so others can click it to see the original message.
