IGP (Western range) Pratap Reddy told reporters on Saturday that the 13 agents involved in human trafficking were arrested under sections of IPC (420) and IPC 120 for intentional concealment of the crime.
Barring the Indian agent Shajahan (33) from Palakkad district in Kerala, the remaining Sri Lankan agents C Dinesh Kumar (27), Rajeev Gandhi (28), Maria Jamsan (22), Shivakumar (28), S Ravichandran (30), Mahendran (41), S Suresh (26), Mariya Siran (33), Siraj (37), Yakoob (40) and Saleem (28)from will be booked under section 14 of Foreigners Act and Foreign Order Rule Number 5. The police seized Rs 2,84,000, 10 cell phones, ID cards issued at the refugee camps.
“The logistics of shifting the refugees, presently in protective custody to their respective camps in Tamil Nadu will be discussed with senior police officials from that state after they reach Mangalore on Sunday,” Reddy informed.
