The five MLAs, who allegedly vandalised Speaker's dais during budget presentation, were suspended till end of Assembly session.

Thiruvananthapuram: In Kerala five Left MLAs have been suspended over the ruckus which happened in Assembly last week. The five suspended MLAs are EP Jayarajan, KT Jaleel, V Sivankutty, K Kunjahmed Master and K Ajit.

The five MLAs, who allegedly vandalised Speaker's dais during budget presentation, were suspended till end of Assembly session.

The decision was taken after Speaker held discussions with both sides. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy had called the incident a shame for the state.

The move to suspend MLAs was criticised by Opposition Leader VS Achuthanandan. He questioned why no action was taken against UDF MLAs who misbehaved with women MLAs.

Unruly scenes were witnessed in the Kerala Assembly on Friday as state Finance Minister KM Mani tabled the state Budget amid high protests. One LDF supporter died of heart attack during police crackdown on protesters in front of the Assembly.

Ruling United Democratic Front and Opposition Left Democratic Front MLAs came to blows, pushed and shoved each other. They even threw the Speaker's chair, overturned tables and shouted slogans.

Four LDF MLAs were injured in the incident but Opposition is still continuing with its protest inside the House.
