98 percent fulfilment in Sakala Scheme

BANGALORE: Additional Chief Secretary K Jairaj said the state government’s flagship scheme Sakala was a success. According to him, Sakala, which was formulated to deliver state services on  time-bound programmes since its introduction received eight lakh petitions from citizens. Over seven lakh applications have been cleared so far.Speaking to newsmen here on Monday, Jairaj said the response from both the public and state government employees programme was overwhelming.As many as 151 services have been notified under the Sakala scheme,  which envisages disbursement of public petitions within the time-bound programme, he revealed.“The rate of success in the disbursement of the petitions in relation to delivery of services stood at 98 per cent,” he said.He added that Sakala had not only improve the image of the state government but also  improved the governance by saving time and energy.Replying to media queries, Jairaj, who is due to retire by May-end, informed that the proposal to increase the number of days from seven to 21 is before the state government.“The issue is still under discussion  and no final decision has been taken on the matter,” he added.Jairaj, who  also headed the three-man committee formed to take  action on the  Lokayukta report on  illegal mining,  informed that state government initiated several initiatives in compliance with the recommendations of the Karnataka Lokayukta and cooperated with it.
