Abducted 4-year-old traced to AP

A four-year-old girl who was kidnapped on Sunday evening in Chennai was rescued by the city police from Sulurpet Railway Station in Andhra Pradesh on Monday.

Police said Murugan, a resident of Korukkupet, got acquainted to one Alaudin, a native of Bihar and a construction labour, when the former bought a piece of land in Gummudipoondi. Murugan also joined the monthly chit operated by Alaudin and had pending payments. Alaudin visited Murugan to collect the dues, which the latter assured to pay soon. After Alaudin left, Murugan’s youngest daughter Bavana (4) was found missing from home. Murugan and his spouse Amudavalli sought the help of the police. A neighbour tipped Murugan off that he saw the kid going with Alaudin. Murugan received a call from Alaudin who demanded a ransom of `1 lakh to release the child.

Joint-Commissioner of Police (North) NK Senthamarai Kannan said that a team was sent to Sulurpet Railway Station in Andhra Pradesh where Alaudin had agreed to release the kid on payment of the ransom. Alaudin was arrested and directed police to a bush 500 metres away from the railway station where the kid was found alone. She was reunited with her family on Monday evening. Senthamarai Kannan also rewarded the police team for their swift action in detecting the case.
