CBI told court that it is examining whether a couple of additional stringent charges could be slapped on the accused.
New Delhi: A special court on Tuesday is expected to pronounce its order on the bail applications of 7 accused in the Adarsh housing scam.
They are former defence officials, AR Kumar, MM Wanchu, RC Thakur and TK Kaul, former senior IAS officers PV Deshmukh and Pradeep Vyas and former Congress MLC Kanhaiyalal Gidwani.
All the accused have sought bail on the ground that CBI had not filed a chargesheet even 60 days after arresting them. The central probe agency claims it has 30 more days to act.
CBI told court on Monday that since it is examining whether a couple of additional stringent charges could be slapped on the accused, it had 90 days to file the chargesheet and not 60 as claimed by the accused.
