TIRUNELVELI: Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) S George reviewed the security arrangements and law and order situation at Koodankulam and in neighbouring coastal villages here on Friday.George made a personal assessment of security arrangements interacting with police officers and personnel deployed near Koodankulam Nuclear Power Project (KKNPP) and in adjacent villages such as Chettikulam, and Koodankulam. To ensure the safety of employees of the KKNPP, the ADGP also inspected the road between the plant and the Anu Town Ship at Chettikulam, where the staff quarters was located.The senior police officer said that scientists, engineers, technicians and officials used this road to reach the KKNPP.George, who interacted with the three companies of Tamil Nadu Special Police Battalion posted on security duty at Koodankulam and surrounding areas, reviewed the venues, particularly SS Puram intersection, where agitations were being organised.After visiting sensitive areas and other coastal villages, such as Chettikulam, Thomas Mandabam and Ovari, George asked the DIG (Tirunelveli) V Varadharaju and Superintendent of Police (Tirunelveli) Vijayendra S Bidari to keep a close vigil on the developments. He told them to assess the law and order situation constantly and take all steps to maintain peace in Koodankulam and in the surrounding villages.
