CHENNAI: One of India’s leading urology and laparoscopy hospitals’ chain, RG Stone Urology & Laparoscopy Hospital, recently initiated the ‘RG Village Drive’ to provide quality healthcare services to the poorer sections of the society. In this initiative, RG Stone is operating a medical van across the villages of Tamil Nadu with an aim to spread awareness on various urological disorders as well as provide them with free medical consultation. It will also distribute its awareness literature on BPH (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia), kidney stone, gall bladder stone and hernia. The awareness drive kickstarted on January 23 in the villages of Chennai.Explaining this rural focus, Baldev Raj, Country Head (Industrial Expert), RG Stone Urology & Laparoscopy Hospital, said, “‘RG Village Drive’ is an attempt to spread awareness in and around the remote villages of Tamil Nadu about sympotamatology of various urological disorders and persuade them to undergo investigation. The villagers are really unfortunate in terms of not being able to avail first-rate medical services. With the help of this van, these villagers will have access to some of the facilities that have never been able to reach them. This van is set to travel to almost every village of Tamil Nadu, and will cover 20-25 villages every month. There will be a team of experts available in the van to examine the patients, give them free consultation and distribute RG’s awareness literature on BPH (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia), kidney stone, gall bladder stone, and hernia. This initiative will also aid patients in these areas who can’t travel to the city to get their check-ups done. As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, RG Stone will provide free treatment to financially weak patients.”Bhim Sen Bansal, Chairman and Managing Director, RG Stone Urology & Laparoscopy Hospital, said, “RG Stone has earlier conducted various camps in and around the nearby districts but this is a whole new initiative with an extensive reach. Urological disorders are increasing by the day. But due to lack of awareness, most people do not pay attention to it. During this drive, we will talk about a few of the startling facts about stone formation. Temperature and humidity, low intake of water or excessive sweating are a few of the reasons that contribute to stone formation. Promoting the intake of water and fluids will be our aim.”
