Ujjain: The former Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel sought blessings of Lord Mahakal in Ujjain as she landed in MP on Monday.

Patel would be sworn in as Madhya Pradesh Governor on Tuesday.

The ex-Gujarat CM reached the state in a chartered bus packed with her family members and relatives.

The bus carrying Patel had entered into MP territory at Jhabua where she was greeted by BJP workers. The Rajbhawan cavalcade following the protocol had reached Jhabua-adjoining Gujarat border to receive Patel but she declined to be seated in the government vehicles.

Sources claimed that she is yet to assume office as the Governor so she refused to board vehicles offered by the government.

The senior BJP leader, however, did not stay at Jhabua as scheduled and she headed to Ujjain and landed at Mahakal temple where she sought blessings and stayed for around 20 minutes.

Talking to newsman she claimed that she prayed for the country and wished that India’s clout grows globally.

At Bhopal, arrangements were in full swing on Monday for the swearing in ceremony.

As Patel would assume office on Tuesday, OP Kohli, the Gujarat Governor would be relieved of his additional duties in MP. Kohli was entrusted with the additional responsibility of MP after the demise of then Governor Ramnaresh Yadav.

During the recent assembly polls in Gujarat, Patel had declined to contest the election and since then rumours of her being given some important responsibility remained rife.

Patel’s cavalcade was expected to reach Bhopal late evening.
