Unrelenting legislators from Telangana region did not allow Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly to transact any business for the second day on Tuesday, demanding that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy withdraw his notice given to the Speaker for moving a resolution to reject the AP Reorganisation Bill-2013.
Standing in the Well and raising slogans against the Chief Minister, the Telangana legislators pushed the House into pandemonium as soon as the proceedings began at 9 am.
At the same time opposition members from Seemaandhra region too went into the Well, demanding that the Speaker place the notices issued by the Chief Minister and others under Rule 77 before the House for consideration. Though they did not troop into the Well unlike Monday, ministers from Telangana stood at their respective seats and raised slogans against the Chief Minister.
Two adjournments for an hour each did not bring order in the House. As his repeated pleas to the agitating members to resume their seats and stop raising slogans fell on deaf ears, Speaker Nadendla Manohar adjourned the House for the day. On Saturday, the Chief Minister issued a notice to the Speaker seeking to move a resolution in the Assembly for returning the AP Reorganisation Bill-2013 to the Centre.
The Telangana side strongly opposed this and demanded that the CM withdraw the notice. The Assembly could not transact any business on Monday because of the pandemonium caused by ministers and MLAs from Telangana.
They vowed not to let the House function till the move to introduce the resolution was either withdrawn by the CM or rejected by the Speaker.
