BANGALORE: After a nationwide cooling down of the India Against Corruption campaign, a function on citizen awareness in the city on Sunday saw no attendance by the public. The Democratic People Protection and Development Organisation organised an awareness campaign keeping in mind the recent anti corruption movement in the country and invited former Lokayukta Santosh Hegde and freedom fighter HS Doreswamy to speak. However, the organisers were in for a surprise as no one showed up for the talk which was scheduled for 3.00 pm. The venue was full with cricket playing children and other visitors of the park but no one seemed willing to take a step and show that they wanted to stand with the organisation. Organisers however blamed it on the fact that the sun was shining bright and that the chairs were placed right in the middle of an open ground.Even the chief guests Justice Hegde and Doreswamy who according to the organisers were supposed to inaugurate the function at 3 did not show up till 4.15. The function was finally inaugurated by Nallur Prasad, president of the Karnataka Sahitya Parishat, who addressed an empty stadium. The organisers did not lose hope however and vowed to remain committed to the task of carrying on the fight against corruption with whatever support they have.
