CHENNAI: A five-day-old girl baby was found abandoned near the Kundrathur Temple, with a loose Intra-venous (IV) line inserted in her hand, early on Tuesday. While an ambulance was summoned at 7.30 am, the people who found the unclothed child, had surmised that she was dead, said police. When the ambulance crew reached the child, they realised that she was alive and began warming her using a u-v light. Later, the child was rushed to Egmore Children's Hospital for stabilisation and further care. Sources also confirmed that the girl had a swelling where the IV line was attached and had multiple mosquito bites and a bad chill. The hospital staff estimated that the child must have been left there two hours before dawn, judging by the number of mosquito bites. "We believe that she must have been delivered in a nearby hospital," added the source. Police sources at Kundrathur confirmed that no missing child complaint had been registered so far and that she was discovered by a resident of Kundrathur named Raju.
