Following an alert issued by Central agencies about possible terror attacks during Independence Day, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has stepped up security at the Bangalore and Mysore railway stations.
Intelligence agencies have alerted railway police that some terror outfits were planning to carry out blasts on trains on the eve of Independence Day.
RPF’s divisional security commissioner (Bangalore Division), S Louis Amuthal told Express, “We have deployed more men in plain clothes to keep a watch on suspicious persons. Also, we have posted policemen on all trains.”
He added that the RPF had directed its intelligence wing to work round the clock to collect inputs from various sources.
“Further, all passengers will be frisked and luggage will be checked thoroughly. As a precaution, dog squads, bomb detection squads and bomb disposal squads are on their toes to react swiftly,” he said.
In Mysore, authorities have deployed more than 100 RPF personnel and are frisking passengers, carrying out checks of luggage and have deployed dog squads.
They have deployed more men on trains.
People have been told to cooperate with the police and have been asked to alert authorities about unclaimed objects.
There is a vigil on movement of public in the station and parking lots and foreign tourists are being checked.
