Bengaluru Student 'Records' Women In College Bathroom, Arrested After He Was Caught Red-Handed
Police said that Kushal, while hiding inside the women’s toilet, had placed his mobile phone in a gap between the walls of the adjacent cubicles

A 21-year-old BTech student was arrested on Friday after he was caught “red-handed” using his phone to film inside the women’s washroom at his college in Bengaluru.

The student, identified as Kushal Gowda, is a final-year computer science student at a private engineering college near Kumbalagodu on Mysuru Road.

The police were alerted after Kushal was caught in the act when a student in the washroom noticed his mobile phone near a cubicle and screamed, drawing the attention of other students nearby.

Narrating about the incident, an officer involved in the investigation, said that Kushal entered the women’s washroom around 10:30 am on Friday, locked the door, and activated his mobile camera. About 15 minutes later, his phone rang, which caught the attention of a woman in the next cubicle. When she confronted him, he refused to open the door. Other women then alerted the college authorities, who brought him to the principal’s office.

The officer said that Kushal had placed his mobile phone in a gap between the walls of the adjacent cubicles. There are seven cubicles for women, each with gaps in the walls separating them, as per The Times of India report.

“Accused Kushal was caught red-handed in the act. A girl, who entered the toilet, noticed the mobile phone placed in the gap in the wall and raised an alarm. She quickly came out and locked the adjacent toilet from outside. Later, others came and dragged Kushal outside and locked him inside the principal’s chamber,” the officer stated.

The officer also mentioned that the college management should be held partly responsible, as the CCTV cameras near the women’s toilets were not operational.

“Management too should be blamed. The CCTVs installed near the women’s toilets are not working. Also, the management has not bothered to deploy a woman attendant near the toilet,” he added.

Additionally, he stated that a case has been filed against Kushal after receiving a complaint from the college management. Following this, they arrested him and seized his mobile phone.
